Situation: Patient suffered traumatic loss of his left orbit in an industrial accident.
Solution: An adhesive retained, gel-filled orbital prosthesis was made. Gel-filled pieces feel more comfortable and soft and the patient has commented that he does not know it's there. Due to its softness it feels more lifelike and moves with the skin when he smiles or screws up his face. The patient also wears tinted glasses to allow for any colour imbalance.
